acrobatlegend
Hey guys, I am in the process of searching around for some literature on tumbling to improve my own technique and my coaching and I was wondering what you guys have read or recommend. I was thinking of buying this: "Championship Gymnastics: Biomechanical Techniques for Shaping Winners" http://www.amazon.com/Championship-Gymnastics-Biomechanical-Techniques-Shaping/dp/0964195291 (err hope this link is working it is sending me to a wrong site...) The reviews look good online and the pictures look really awesome. But it is pricey! So I wanted to check with you guys if this book or something else may be a better choice. Thanks! Daniel Burnham
That book is good at teaching correct body positions and how to generate force. It is focused on women but is good for tumbling. It is not a book of progressions.

Sailor Venus
Learning at a gym under supervision of a coach is better than reading any book. I thought reading Championship Gymnastics book was gonna help me loads but it doesn't. I reckon it'll only help once you have a shit load of gymnastic experience under your belt. The book won't help much for total beginners. Reading Rik Feeney's Back Handsprings: The Secret Techniques helped me a bit but like I said, learning from a gym class is better than reading any book.
