George Launchbury
Popped into the Tesco near my office (Sunbury-on-Thames) before work this morning to get one of these: http://www.tesco.com/direct/kelly-holmes-10lb-weighted-bar/211-7950.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=211-7950 Kelly Holmes 10lb Weighted Bar - £12.48 (was £24.96) ...The Kelly Holmes exercise bar is versatile enough to be used separately as 2x5lb bars or simply combine and lock securely into place for one fantastic accessory... Each half is just over two feet long (69cm I think), so over four feet when screwed together with sturdy looking (approx 10mm) thread. This would be good for transport and/or storage. The plastic end caps unscrew to reveal the thread, so they are still really neat and safe when used/stored as shorter units. Asides from this, they were selling them in-store for £4.71 ...so I got two !!
Piotr Ochocki
Strangely enough I bough very similar looking bar to stuf fon th epicture (and having the same dimensions) from argos recently (other sale), just branded as Jessica Ennis bar, although argos thinks these are 4 + 4lb weight.Good kit, thread bit too long when you want to join both halfs, although one can think of it as wrist warmup .
Paul Gray
Hey George. You're a long time contributor right? What have you been using these bars for ?
George Launchbury
Hi Don, Yeah, five years!! ...albeit with a long hiatus. I have been using it for Handstand One iM work. Unlike Piotro's, mine joins together very well - you wouldn't know it came apart unless you looked really closely. It also served as a means for reminiscing about the good old days, when I was skilled with a Bo staff. The extra momentum was fun. Getting hit in the shin was not. At least I didn't split it down for some double-stick drills, or it would have been my face.
Paul Gray
Ah cool! Have you been to any of the seminars? for £4.71 that's an absolute bargain!!! i'll have to check their closest store that sells sports equipment - it's their flagship store (Cheshunt) so will be really disappointed if they aren't in there at that price
