Edward Smith
A single leg squat is a pistol, and in this case jumping. If you don't know what a pistol is check HERE. Simple! One note, stick the landing. Don't descend (or try to) into another SLS upon landing. Land, steady yourself then do another squat.
usalvr2
Ed, Thank you so much. So basically, I do a pistol, and then on the way up I shoot all the way up into a jump? And, then stick the landing on one leg? sinc, -g.
Edward Smith
You got it! Coach Sommer's progression of SLS's goes something like this (this is once an athlete is capable of single leg squats):-regular SLS's-jumping SLS's, simply jump straight up, eventually you can make it jumping up onto an object -SLS's jumping for distance-SLS's jumping for height and distance-SLS"s jumping for height and distance weightedAnd you can add weighted (non-jumping) pistols in once you're proficient at regular pistols, as a maximal strength exercise if you so desire.
