Timothy Aiken
I am looking to unify my canes into a single base. How wide should the canes be apart? Is there a specific way I should do it? Since I am not at OAHS level yet, I don't know how narrow they should be to allow easier leaning while still being able to do L-sits and such. Any help is appreciated. Biren Patel
I believe Handbalancer recommends 33 cm as the distance between the bases of the canes.edit: Aha! Here is the link to his recommendation, just scroll about half way down https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/5208-informative-article-about-one-arm-hs-development/
Mikael Kristiansen
hahaha 33 cm. My russian coach ALWAYS makes 33 cm. It is very comfortable though. Of course your shoulder width can make a difference, but this distance generally works so you can use it as a reference. At least it is unproblematic to press handstand from L sit with that width and you dont need to lean an excessive amount to go from 2 arms to 1. Timothy Aiken
The thing is, my hips are too wide to hold an L-sit at this width. Is that supposed to happen? It's a pretty tight squeeze for a normal L sit but with the advanced one (which I prefer) where the hips are directly in between the hands, my hips press on my upper forearms. Mikael Kristiansen
Then make them wider. Your preference is the most important. I suppose they wont need to be much wider anyways so it shouldnt be a problem
