Frahebede
I actually think his legs are atrophied too, at 2:57 he does an arched planche on parallel bars and his legs are weirdly shaped and it looks like he doesn't have control over them and in the victorian on ground his legs look strange as well. ForzaCavaliere
Everyone keeps mentioning the atrophied legs, which is legit, but it makes me wonder if rings/pommel/parallel/horizontal-bar specialists train their legs either, or do they just let them atrophy?

Dismounts from a high bar can hit with an impact of 7 gravitys. I'm pretty sure if you tried that without some damn strong supporting musculature, you'd end your career pretty quickly.

But pommel horse specialists aren't that high off the ground, they wouldn't require anything other than the most basic of leg strength at all would they? Andrew Long
I'm pretty sure they do t start of as specialists and only after achieving skill on all the apparatuses they specialize. So they would train legs with everyone else especially for floor

Samvel Azizbekyan
As far as atrophied legs, I am not sure, but he is definitely not resting his wrists on his hips, watch closely. I never thought id see a Victorian off the ground, its ridiculous.

When we say atrophied legs here, we don't mean chicken legs, but rather severely disproportionate ones to the rest of the body due to certain medical conditions like paraplegia. Anyways, I don't think that guy has atrophied legs, but I think he was actually doing this: This is not a victorian on the floor because the mid-back is in contact with the floor. Samvel Azizbekyan
His back does come off the floor, or he wouldn't be able to rock forward like that...He is clearly off the ground, I am not sure if his legs are severly disproportionate to his body but that sure is a victorian off the ground in that video at 2:

I thought they were since his legs looked kinda weird in his planche but he is not in a wheelchair or anything and can walk normally like everyone else. So I guess victorian on fingertips on floor is possible! Here's another video with him and you can see his legs are normal. He's in it at 3:11 and 5:33 and he might be in it at somewhere else not sure.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfug6Y7MKE0

I don't think you can actually rock back and forth with your whole body off the floor. So I'm still kind of skeptical that he did a victorian on floor. What is this guy's name and are there more videos of him doing this exact same skill? I would like to know that a victorian on the floor to be real and possible too, but I think we still need some more verification.
Samvel Azizbekyan
His back is off the floor man...you can clearly see it. You obviously wouldn't see a shadow underneath him if his back was touching....I know its unbelievable but the guy did it...and its there...on video, give the guy some credit! And to rock forward like that....his whole back must be off the floor because his legs are too...and if he was to rock like that without his whole back off the floor his ass would be touching the floor, which it is clearly not. This guy has crazy victorian strength..There is another vid that Frahebede posted at 3:12 he does a victorian off the parallel bars. Pretty impressive. Your ass doesn't have to touch the floor to rock if part of your back is on the floor. Anyways, I'm not trying to knock this guy at all and I'm also hoping that he actually did a victorian on the floor so I would know it would be possible. I know this guy has crazy shoulder strength and good victorian strength and I don't deny that. The victorian on parallel bars was done with part of the forearms supported which makes a big difference than if it was only the hands.

But if you look closely and think about it, you cant rock like that if your legs are in the air and your back touching the floor...if your legs are off the floor, to rock forward like that would mean that your backs off the floor too. In my opinion the video shows it pretty clearly that he is off the ground, maybe the fact that that move looks so incredibly unreal is what makes us doubt it haha...And yeah the one off the bars has a little of forearm support but its better than any other one ive seen thats similar..This dude is strong! Hristiyan
I'll share my personal opinion with you guys. Street workout has nothing to do with competitive gymnastics. As simple as this. Gymnastic training is not easy to find when you're a grown up especially in countries like mine (Bulgaria), it is really hard to find someone to train you, because many of the coaches don't wanna waste their time with a person who will never become competitive (because of your age).I'm giving an example with my country - Bulgaria, because Bulgaria and Ukraine are really similar countries (Ukraine is the center of the street workout movement) - sports are not that developed and it's really hard to find a place where someone can coach you to train sport gymnastics and the demand is not great as well. This is one of the reasons people go out, find a bar and start working out. They watch videos on the internet and they try to do the same.Bro-science is high to the roof in the street workout - people who've achieved a back lever (banana shape) will give their friends advice on how to do a back lever, nobody watches form, because there's nobody to coach them.Every day I overhear people who do pull ups to workout out their chests and triceps! (for example) So Street workout is really a free movement, people watch, and people do. Most of them don't train legs as you've noticed but they don't care since they don't practice floor routines, they just wanna achieve static movements (levers most of them). Maybe you're gonna say that if you're a grown up you still can train gymnastics: Sure, but it's so difficult - I've been trying to train like a gymnast for the past year, year and a half and it's so difficult without someone telling you what to do, without someone watching you perform, to correct your form etc. You can find a partner with the same goals ofc, but most of the people who train street workout don't care about that, because in their world the generally accepted form of the movements is different - you can make a planche with arched back and you can easily get away with it, because the other people watching you have never seen a proper planche, all they do is watch street workout videos. So people should not compare gymnastics with street workout - in gymnastics you get coached, it takes longer to develop the static movements, you train many movements at once and you watch your form at all costs. But gymnastics is not so easily available in every country (I bet in the States you can train gymnastics in every city - you just need passion and money), and gymnastics is not that popular in every country. So just leave the people do their thing with street workout - it's really good that they work out, not just sit in front of their PCs.
ForzaCavaliere
Hristiyan, that's my favourite answer! (: I never considered it like that, and it's very true that the culture is different between the sports. It's just so easy to compare the two because many (all?) of the elements are the same. PS. I am also street workout actually. EDIT: I just remembered that the aim of this topic was to debate which of the elite-level proponents of each sport had the greater average strength considering that street-workout athletes are doing a lot of moves that have never been demonstrated by gymnasts before. Hristiyan
Sorry if my previous respond was not exactly on the main topic. I'm sure that someone already pointed that out but here it goes again: maybe someone training street workout can make a move so difficult that a gymnast can not do, but this is as far as it goes. Many of the people training street workout will focus on only one thing (push, pull) and they will perform this one movement because it's their favorite (this is how many street workout "legends" are known only for one of their moves: hanibal for king: front lever for example, Zef- unique muscle ups; but you cannot see Hanibal for king performing a handstand, at least I've never seen him etc), while gymnasts have a huge spectrum of different things to learn and perform, nothing is ignored there, everything is structured really really good. So if person A concentrates on only performing one movement (one spectrum), while person B concentrates on improving himself in every possible way (i couldn't find a better way to express my thoughts) - floor, rings, bar, parallets; person A will become better than person B in only that one movement that person A has put so much effort and time to perform. Best regards, Hristiyan
