WitnessTheFitness
For all those that are bored with human flags and want to take it to the next level, here's a new progression: Human flag on the middle of a sheer cliff, with no ropes Progressions include removing the portion of your brain responsible for survival instinct.

Keilani Gutierrez
Brian, quit being a stick in the mud. doing that takes balls.
Brian Li
Hey I'm not saying that doesn't take any balls, but there are much better options of making the human flag harder. If you want to grow gigantic balls or you disregard your life then do that in the photo; if you want to get stronger in the human flag, then add weight or do harder variations. Doing what the guy is doing in the photo won't make you stronger in the human flag anyways.
Jon Douglas
It will if he climbs down that ridge in that position
Karl Kallio
difficulty through endurance? first you have to climb up the cliff, probably using an exaggerated grip because you have no safety lines and you feel the need to sink your fingers into the stone, then you hold the flag for however long it takes the camera guy to get a good shot. Then you climb back down
Mikkel Ravn
Downclimbing is usually harder, so in all likelihood he would have continued. Climbers try to avoid downclimbing at all costs, since it is particularly hard on the ego.

My post was meant as a joke, but I'd say this definitely takes more endurance and strength than just walking up to a pole after a rest period, kicking up, and then getting to rest afterwards. First he has to climb up the cliff to even start the move, then afterwards has to finish the climb. The climber is Dan Osman, a famous extreme free-soloer, in case anyone is curious. He died young, but it wasn't ropeless climbing that killed him. He used to create jumping stations at the top of cliffs in Yosemite, and do free-fall jumps on rope for fun, when one day the rope broke.

palmcron
Dominic Lacasse recently posted a video with extracts from an act including that move (with the girl, not the climbing ) Leosvel and Diosmani do a similar move with a handstand on top, if I remember correctly. WitnessTheFitness
Badass. Human flags done using other people as a pole also always impress me.
Brian Li
Besides the one arm side lever (flag), the shoulder width grip side lever impresses me the most.

Brian Li
One arm side lever? Anyone have video/pics of this? This is actually called a flag, but it is essentially a one arm side lever.

Jon Douglas
Closer to a handstand than a planche, but still impressive.I wonder if it's possible to hold a weight in the free hand and do a true single arm side lever? Probably too awkward to bother, but I bet there's some potential for some truly creative cirque execution there.
