Why do I see gymnasts like Yuri Van Gelder and Jake Dalton doing bicep curls?

I don't understand - as first class gymnasts performing solely bodyweight movements, wouldn't performing the exact bodyweight movements themselves lead to the best results?

 

How do bicep curls enhance their training?

Usually for warmup and higher rep rehab/prehab :) for actual strength building yes, the movements themselves are usually superior

i dont count when i do curls but 15 would definitely be on the lower end of the range i use. its always nice to do some sets of banded curls to get blood flowing in the elbow region after a SAS workout.

Anytime they do them it always seems to be a finisher or as others have said, for rehab/prehab
