The Lost Art of Hand Balancing(book)

There already was a thread about the book, but I don't find it anymore.

I don't own the book, so I just can say what I heard about it: it has some nice pictures of handbalancers from old times, but it's not good to improve your handstand, as it teaches the arched way of doing a handstand.

That guy advertising the book has some videos of himself doing handstands, and if that's what the book teaches, it's better not to use it from my point of view.

I'm waiting for handstand chronicles. :)

For the time being you can look at the York Handbalancing course for arched "oldschool" handstands: http://www.sandowplus.co.uk/Competition ... orkhb1.htm

Or find plenty of information about straight handstands in this forum, handstand-related posts on ido's wonderful blog (http://idoportal.blogspot.com/) and the FEDEC-Training Manual for handstand: http://www.fedec.net//website/EN/contai ... kpdf/m6(uk).pdf

Palmcron thank you for the response.

I can not wait for Handsatnd Chronicles to come out!. I hope Coach Sommer does not keep use waiting too long. I almost died waiting for BtGB!

Anyway yes the York Hand Balancing course teaches the handstand with an arch back. Which the book(s) from the Lost ARt of Hand Balancing website probably does teach. But the author also mention:

I agree with Bob Jones in The True Art and Science of Hand Balancing where he states you should work on the handstand first using back bend before moving onto this more difficult variety. Of course, you can learn the straight handstand first if you want to.

I am thinking about buying the book from Lost Art of Hand Balancing since I do like the success story from the book and that it is more related to that of hand-balancing not just handstand and I have plenty of bucks to spend. BUT! If Coach Sommer beats me to it and comes out with Handstand Chronicles I am definitely buying that one first!

Thank you for the replies. I already made my mind when Ido told me

"It is valueable only from an historic and motivation point of view.

For technical training, tips and understanding, it is useless and outdated" (sic)

Hope he doesn't mind me quoting him. Since I appreciate his knowledge and experience on the subject, for me it's already out of question to buy it.
