Chris Maudlin
I just purchased stall bars and plan on installing them on the wall up against the corner of my garage. Will this be ok, or do I need open wall space on both sides for exercises beyond the 36" stall bar width? I will have shelves on the other side of the stall bars, so will only really be able to use 36" inches directly in front of them.
Douglas Wadle
Sometimes space availability dictates what we can and can't do. In an ideal world you will have space on both sides. windshield wipers and straddle stretching will be difficult if in a corner. If that's the only spot available, it will be a minor thing. But there will be times you wished it was on a wall w/ some space on both sides.
Jonas Winback
A related question: is it necessary to have a certain amount of space between the top rung and the ceiling for any particular exercise in the foundation program? I'm going to order a stall bar and install it here at home. The ceiling is 236cm high, and I can choose between a 210cm or a 230cm stall bar, so both will fit without a problem. The first one has 8 rungs and the second 9. The only one I can think of right now is that side lever pull, where I won't be able to have straight legs in an inverted horizontal position no matter which stall bar I choose (unless I grip lower than usual). Coach Sommer
Hi Jonas, In your circumstances I would recommend the 230cm stall bar. Yes, on the inverted SL work you would personally need to grip lower than usual given your ceiling height. Yours in Fitness, Coach Sommer
Jonas Winback
Thanks a lot for the reply, Coach Sommers! I guess I'll go for the 230 cm version
