Hayden.M.
hi allfor a while now the right side of my hip hurts and occassionaly pops. the pain i get usually comes from abducting my right leg with power or against great force. this has gone on a while now, yet it does not stop me from training. it only hinder my ability in one simple kick, but not in any other of the more advanced kicks. the pain though, feels deeper than if it was coming from the muscles, for that reason i think there is something wrong with the joint or something.sometimes aswell, when im at rest, i move in a certain way and my hip just "pops", prettly loud aswell. this does not cause me great pain, but i can still feel it!any replies greatly appreciatedthanks
Joshua Naterman
If it's the side kick that bothers you, chances are that you aren't rotating the upper leg properly as you extend out. The upper leg should be slightly externally rotated. If you don't do that you'll get hip pain and possibly some popping. I don't know what long term effects are, but I'm sure they aren't pleasant. Play with it slowly, you'll see what I mean. I had to figure this out too.
Marcelo Lara
I'm glad to share my experience. I had the same (or a very similar) problem during the last year, but in my left hip. The kicks was a torture (if you practise some martial art, you'll know it), and the stretching too.Fortunally, I knew Reiki, and a friend of mine helped me. Also, you should do some Hip Flexors and strenghtening exercise, because you'll probably have an abductor's inflamation. Also, how often do you rest? Hayden.M.
Also, how often do you rest?i train usually four times a week. 2 consecutive days, then a days rest, then another 2 consecutive days, then 2 days rest. some times i might have random days mork, but i nearly always assure myself 2 days of consecutive rest per week.since you have had this problem, you will understand me when I say how IRRITATING this pain really is.any methods to reduce inflamation please?thanks for your help
Erik Sjolin
I hate that feeling. I got it after I started trying to increase my flexibility for the side splits, and now my left hip pops every time I go into a straddle. Some people told me just to stretch it out, ice it, and some even recommended accupuncture therapy. Guest Ido Portal
Hip poping and pain is usualy a result of unbalanced ext/int rotators of the hip ratio.Often, merely starting to work on int rotators, for example, will alleviate pain and help with the poping. It is such a rare occasion to see someone performing int' rotation exercises for the hip, you have morechance to see woodie allan squatting heavy. Most trainers dont even know how such exercises look like or should be performed, but if you have issuewith the hips, I strongly suggest educating yourself on the matter.Ido. Joshua Naterman
Interesting, I've certainly never heard of that. Learn something new every time Ido posts lol!http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/HipsWt.html I searched and found this website. This link goes to the main hip page. The following link is specifically for internal rotators:http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/HipsWt.html#anchor1938163It's on the same page, but this way you can't miss it. There are exercises, stretches, etc, it's all free and animated. Good luck with your hip.

I'm so sorry.I didn't had methods for the inflamation: when I was in pain I trained or rested, but I've never took medicine... well, once, and it didn't works. You should read what Slizzardman posted, and also, I leave this link: it's a thread made by me, with the same doubt that you:viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3128Ah, and I almost forget it. I'm almost healed. I used Reiki terapy. Anyway, if you could take accupuncture or digitopuncture (is that correctly spelled?) therapy, it would be very useful
