azero
Hi,Because of pain in my wrist, I start searching for something help and a friend of mine told me about powerballs(nsb). I'll be very thankful if someone who had use them to write what he thinks about it and the model that he is using. Can they be used for training wrists flexibility and endurance. And also is at all any effect of them or they are just another useless equipment that is based on commercials. Thanks in advance.Best, azero
Animalonfire
Haha. I reached this site through beast skills, which I discovered through the powerball forums . Pretty sad really. One of the first posts I made on this forum was recommending someone with wrist pain to get a cheap version of a powerball. I think that for wrist pain they're great, but I haven't ever used wrist push ups to reverse an existing problem. I do get the feeling that they're a bit better, but no numerical data, only good feelings.A powerball will do nothing for your flexibility that you couldn't do 10x better with passive stretching. As for strength I think that there is about one muscle in the arm that I can hit with a powerball that I can't feel working with bodyweight variations, but my thumb's are always on fire during use and it may help with grip endurance...I acheived a muscle up on my first educated attempt and I do put it down to the false grip but where it was from who knows? If you are going to get one I'd recommend a totally plain one with a counter (because curiosity WILL get the better of you otherwise). Don't be conned into anything with flashing lights or a leather case(keep the box intact), they're really just money spinners. And amazon are far cheaper than NSD. Stewart Whaley
I'll take a bucket of rice over a powerball every day of the week.Much cheaper. Can replicate the powerball motion.Increase resistance?- Hold an object in your fist and grind back and fort or to the bottom of bucket (I use different length/diameter PVC but a dbumbell or weight plate would be wicked.).Endurance - do high reps, vary depth of hand/fist in rice. hold an object if needed. Tons of other uses for developing hands, wrists, fingers (check out YouTube and imagination).Portability and size are the only negatives I can come up with, and those are a stretch (oh, and one of my dogs likes to eat the rice when I'm not looking).I can't think of a place I'd really need to take a wrist exerciser. Ryan Libke
I have a powerball and I really enjoy it. I don't think it should be used to develop the wrist strength for gymnastic style strength training necessarily, but it is kind of fun to just keep around the couch to get a good pump in your forearms while otherwise lowering your intelligence watching TV. My wrists do feel good when I do it. I also like the one with the lights. It is very stimulating to my simple brain.
