Blairbob
best learned in a gymnastics facility with a spotter with equipment like barrels/octagons/boulder and mats. prerequisites tend to be bridge kickover, back walkover/limber. I generally teach a flyspring, a front handspring off two feet on trampoline or tumbl-trak before introducing back handspring. It is the opposite of a back handspring. Blairbob
I never have for back handspring drills. Too easy for them to roll to the side. See if they have something like this: or

Blairbob
ask. bare in mind sometimes the barrels at gyms are not the appropriate size for an adult. they should roughly be chest to shoulder high. you can put panel mats (the mats that fold out) side by side so the barrel can roll on them and this can simulate an appropriate sized barrel
Alessandro Mainente
i'm not more tall than 170 cm...is a problem?
Blairbob
it depends on the size of the barrel
Ryan Libke
I am trying to get the back HS down myself. I think you really need to get someone to coach it to you. I have been able to get a few skills down myself by reference to books, DVD's etc, but the back HS is not amenable to figuring it out for yourself. I got part of the way by paying for some private lessons, which were very much worth it. I need to get a few more lessons in before I get it, though. Aaron Griffin
If you want to be ghetto: get an empty 55 gallon drum and wrap it in blankets. Practice in the grass.
