Body by Science book Yay or Nay?

I am asking for advice on this book because lately all my friends have been raving about this book but lack the ability to clearly articulate its truths (or untruths) to me. They all lift weights so I needed a gymnastic perspective on the book.

It's main claim is:

"In Body By Science, bodybuilding powerhouse John Little teams up with fitness medicine expert Dr. Doug McGuff to present a scientifically proven formula for maximizing muscle development in just 12 minutes a week."

The author believes that what we fail to do is allow enough rest for optimal growth (in size and function). He has found that it takes between 6-8 days (if I remember correctly) for the muscles to effectively recover, the average being 7 days hence the "12 min a week" statement.

You can find info on his book by google searching it but here is an interesting presentation of his that I found on YouTube:

He pretty much explains his whole system and its reasoning in the 1hr and 38 min video.

My questions are:

Do you believe this system to be true or false?

Can it be applied to Gymnastic Strength Training™?

I noticed it contradicts some things Coach Sommer has said and I personally think it sounds like the lazy man's way out.

Thanks,

Kombat

There has been one discussion on the forum about it so you may wanna search for that one. Besides that I've ordered the book so will pitch in once I've read it. I don't buy into the whole long rest stuff though. Sure you can achieve a good physique from once a week training. But not an outstanding physique.

John Little's books are mostly moneymakers. There is truth and falsehood in them, which is why he is able to keep writing books and say the same thing in a slightly different way.

I will not say any more than this, so please don't ask: the programs in his books will not produce ideal results by themselves. There is something very basic that apparently everyone on the planet has missed. I will not explain that.

My bad for not using the search function first Razz. I haven't been on here in a long time and I got excited haha.

Yeah I looked into John Little and he seems like he is only after the money. It is Dr. McGuff that seems to be the brains of the book.

Your words perplex me silzzardman, but if you do not want to explain yourself then there is nothing to be said.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.

Don't worry about it, was merely pointing it out for information purposes
