Hello,

I've been doing research recently on a book about biomechanics .. I'd really love to gain a better understanding of gymnastic moves .. just to satisfy my curiosity !!

Can anyone give recommendations about a good book please? I don't mind the content being a bit technical, but at the same time no too technical ..

I also came across this book, do you think it's a good read? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/073605 ... M17NFBY1G2

Thanks a lot for your help :D

Hi hi

This is not too gymnastics related, but it definitely is bio-mechanics related. Here are some neat resources on Japanese bio-mechanics, mainly martial arts related...

Kono Yoshinori is amazing, he literally applies all of the hidden principles with his body movements.

Also look up Noh performers, their muscle/body control is amazing...

Last, I recommend looking up "Kuroda Tetsuzan" he is utterly amazing.

Hope this helps, although it is almost entirely different and almost all of the info is in japanese... >_<

Yoshinori and Kuroda eh, heheh. Very interesting stuff.

However, if you're looking for the Mr. Gymnastics BioMechanics man in the U.S., google William or Bill Sands. There still should be a bunch of his articles archived at USAG's website.

Hi

Look for a book by Tony Smith 1984 (or its 1982) called Gymnastics Biomechanics. Its pretty much exactly what you are after. Its out of print but i think you can find it on Amazon

There is another one as well by Mike Gluck?? 1984.. I think its called Biomechanics of Gymnastics or something like that. Amazon it again.

Both books are not to technical but do give quite a decent amount of detail, and its all gymnastics related.

The book Biomechanics of Women's Gymnastics by George something or rather is not all that much about biomechanics but it does cover some really interesting points from a biomechanical point of view.
