chingyvang
In my culture, beef blood is considered a delicacy so we serve it cooked in beef stew during seasonal gatherings. I just had some and was wondering if they're a good protein source?
Larry Roseman
According to wiki - serum total protein is 7g/dl.That is 7% protein. 60% is albumin - which is similar to egg white protein35% are various globulins - no idea as to qualityIn comparison muscle is typically 25% protein. Not bad!
Joshua Naterman
The primary value of blood is micronutrients! THere is some protein, but not a lot. However take this to heart: 2 tablespoons of animal blood per day functions as a very good multivitamin. This used to be mixed into the milk back in the day in times of famine, they would bleed the cow just a little bit. It doesn't notice 2 tablespoons gone every so often. Blairbob
I like jello. It also was an old Hun trick for surviving on the steppes with your horse when there was nothing else.
