G00SE
i was thinking of trying to make one using those plans too. i showed the plans to my friends dad-hes a carpenter and he said the biggest problem is that the top is wider than the bottom-the best thing would be to change it a little bit so that the bottom is wider so that wherever you place your hands the mushroom wont tip. Ewalk91
well most mushrooms i seen have a top bigger than the base....right? i'm pretty sure the base just has to be a bit heavy.
G00SE
the base supports the top- there are mushrooms that look like cylinders with pads on top- and others that look like a thin pipe with a mushroom top-but they have a crossed shaped foundation that extends beyond the top-if it didnt it would tip over if your hands werent placed perfectly on center. Blairbob
Most gymnastics mushrooms on the market have a circular base that is as wide or more than the top. This is the kind I found on CL for a deal. http://www.aspiregym.com/boy%20on%20mushroom.JPG http://www.easupply.net/images/Tac-10%20Mushroom.jpg Nice top, easier on the wrists. http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/sp/spieth-gymnastics-mushroom.jpg See most have a slightly bigger base than a top. It's not neccessary though if the mushroom are not as tall.
Gregor
Those from spieth are not so good, this model has to hard surface and it slips.
Edward Smith
a simple solution would be to bolt (somehow secure) it to a big flat square bit of wood to act as a base/floor
