I've been practising the high bars and want to get into it. When I even try swinging on the bar, my hands burn already. They can't take the friction and its uncomfortable.

So I'm considering of buying a pair of handguards to protect my hands from friction burns. http://www.gymnasticexpress.co.uk/handg ... -1435.html I don't know what's the difference between a beginner and an advanced gloves so I'll look at the beginner gloves since I'm inexperienced on the high bar. Could someone help me decide which glove/handguard is most appropriate for me? Thanks.

Beginner hand guards have no dowel, advanced high bar guards have a dowel, ring grips have a larger dowel than that of high bar guards.

If you are learning giants and other HB baics, then you will likely be at it a while, buy beginner hand guards that fit you, and buy some straps while you are at it, if you have access to a 'shiny' bar (a metal one) then buy some normal winter gloves that will slide on the bar and use straps to keep you on so you can train great volume on your skill work.

It would be my preference to teach giants on a shiny before moving to a real HB, but i don't know what your gym has.
