Tavis G
Hey guys, i have you used thick bar training before, but it was not portable. Fat Gripz are. I was wondering if this is worth the money, and would slide over doorway chinup bar foam?
Paradox
...Why don't you just use a towel?
Ian Myers
come on dude, youve complained about not having the money to get the BTGB book, yet you're asking whether or not two pieces of $40 rubber are worth it? Heck, you could buy rings off of ebay for that price I know this sounds mean, but some of your posts are getting ridiculous...
Quick Start Test Smith
Guys, it's a perfectly valid question. No need to be mean. :? Tavis, just wrap the handle areas on your barbell/dumbbell with towels/fabric as tightly as you can and then tape it with electrical tape or duct tape as tightly as you can. Fat gripz are just convenient (and expensive) grips that you can put on handles to make them thicker. You can do that for a few dollars as I described above. The answer to your question is no, fat gripz are not worth it if you don't have money to burn. You can make your own for almost free. Prioritize your spending on getting BtGB.
Paradox
Guys, it's a perfectly valid question. No need to be mean. :? Well, as Igm stated, this kid has complained about money numerous times. I understand he's only 14 or 15 years old, but it is getting a little ridiculous. Many of the forum members have already outlined the best plan for him multiple times. Buy the book, then buy the rings. On top of that, we're seeing topics posted daily from him about the same things over and over again. It's like he's not even reading the responses. Tavis G
Guys, i asked this question because i have the money to buy the book and rings with money to spare. I wanted to see if these were worth it. My dad said i have to order everything off the net at once.
Paradox
For beginners, rings and the book are all we really need. I would suggest saving your money for now. Most everything else can be improvised upon. Towels instead of Fat Gripz, public parks for parallel bars, Couches for GHR, building framework for stall bars, soccer goal box for overhead bar, thick books for handstand blocks, and so on. I have used all of these at one point or another and you really do not need extra equipment. Hell, I have used buildings, poles, and even a tree to substitute for cirques. Save the money. Joshua Naterman
If you want fat grips, get them. They are a good training tool, but don't spend money on them until the book is paid for, at the very least. If you already have a doorway pull up bar then the next thing would be a set of paralletes or two chairs. If you have two identical chairs that are strong and stable enough for you to do beginning L-sit variations, you're in good shape. After that I'd get rings, and if I already had all of that stuff I would get chalk for the rings. After all of that was taken care of, I'd think about fat gripz. They're cool, and you can take them all over the place to gyms and do your dumbbell training with thicker handles, but they aren't going to change your fitness the way these other things will.So as long as you have your priorities set to where it's basically:1) book and doorway pull up bar2) something like paralletes, which you can make out of PVC for super cheap or just use chairs for free3) rings4) chalk for rings5) fat gripzYou should be fine. Tavis G
I already have parreletes made out of PVC, they are nice. I am gettin a pullup bar installed in my ceiling. And most likely when the pullup bars are set up, im going to hang rings from them. Buying the book, and maybe fat gripz.
